FIDF Exclusive Film Screening of Munich ’72 and Beyond

As the president of Zelouf International, Danny Zelouf oversees the company’s international textile import and export operations from its headquarters in New York City and a satellite office in Los Angeles. When he isn’t working, Danny Zelouf contributes to a number of initiatives that support Jewish communities in the United States and Israel, among them, the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF).

Established by a group of Holocaust survivors more than 35 years ago, the FIDF currently operates out of 15 regional offices throughout the United States and Panama. Its primary mission is to provide services that promote education and general well-being among Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers and the families of IDF solders who have fallen in the line of duty.

In support of this mission, the FIDF recently sponsored an exclusive screening of the documentary film Munich ’72 and Beyond at City Cinemas 123 on 3rd Avenue in New York City on January 24, 2017. The event was designed to spread awareness about the hostage crisis at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Germany.

Directed by Stephen Crisman and executive produced by Michael Cascio, Munich ’72 and Beyond tells the story of the 11 Israeli athletes and the terrorists who killed them during the Munich games. It also follows the construction of the Munich Memorial Project, a tribute to the slain Olympians that was spearheaded by the German States Ministry for Education, Science and Culture in partnership with the International Olympic Committee and the Foundation for Global Sports Development. Two producers with Global Sports Development, Steven Ungerleider and David Ulich, worked with Mr. Crisman and Mr. Cascio to help make Munich ’72 and Beyond a reality.

Billy Joel Biography and His Successful Music Career

President of Zelouf International in New York City, Danny Zelouf communicates directly with suppliers for his fabric company. The company used to be known for domestic garment manufacturing. Then Danny Zelouf transitioned the company, and the products are now being utilized by top brands and major retailers. Outside of his career, he enjoys entertainment, such as Billy Joel.

Although Billy Joel’s father was a successful classical pianist, his mother is the one who motivated him to study piano. Billy Joel began playing piano at four years old, and he caught right on. He was already a pro at playing the piano by the time he reached age 16; he joined three bands before he even learned to drive.

The Beatles’ Ed Sullivan Show performance inspired Joel, and it wasn’t long after that he decided to commit to the music life. Billy Joel was so committed to music that he even dropped out of high school, which led to his first solo album in 1971 called Cold Spring Harbor. After “Piano Man” was named one of the top-20 singles, he recorded other new songs and albums, including Streetlife Serenade. His major commercial breakthrough was when his song “The Stranger” was in the top 25 of the U.S. Billboard. Continuing his success, Billy Joel went on to collect a People’s Choice Award, and he even won a Grammy for best male rock vocal performance.

Tips for Trying Omakase

Danny Zelouf, president of the New York City-based textile distributor Zelouf International, enjoys exploring world cultures in his free time. A lover of Japanese cuisine, Danny Zelouf favors the omakase meal.

The omakase meal is a Japanese tradition in which the chef selects the dishes presented. The word literally translates to “I trust the chef,” though diners may hear it as a variant of “It's up to you.”

The tradition gives the chef free reign to serve what he or she believes the diners will enjoy. No modifications or substitutions are available, and the tradition assumes that the diners will eat whatever the chef puts in front of them. It is thus not an ideal tradition for those with allergies or food restrictions, nor is it for those who are particularly picky, but the adventurous and open eater often finds himself or herself in the midst of a memorable dining experience.

When one orders omakase, one is essentially asking for the best on the menu. Many chefs who offer omakase will present their finest quality ingredients and most attention-grabbing dishes, and the price does reflect this commitment. Price may range from $50 to $80 per person, though this figure often includes special attention from the chef and even answers to the diner's pressing culinary questions.

Two Underrated Giants Greats That Won Super Bowls

The president of Zelouf International, Danny Zelouf oversees import and design operations for fabric and textiles from company locations in both New York and Los Angeles. Outside his professional life, Danny Zelouf is an avid New York sports fan and follows the Giants of the NFL.

Ottis “O.J.” Anderson was thought to be at the tail-end of his career in 1990 when the Cardinals traded the aging running back to the Giants. At age 34, he rewarded the team’s gamble by amassing more than 1,000 yards and helping the Giants win a championship. Moreover, he would earn MVP honors in Super Bowl XXV, rushing for 102 yards and scoring a touchdown. The fact that he isn’t talked about as more of a factor for the Giants team makes him one of the more underrated players in the team's history.

Chase Blackburn is another all-time underrated Giants player. He spent a total of seven seasons with the team, but found himself out of work in 2011 before the team called him back into service. Ten weeks later, he found himself matched up against Rob Gronkowski, the game's preeminent tight end, in Super Bowl XLVI. Blackburn would make a key interception, out jumping Gronkowski in the process, and the Giants would go on to win the game in the final moments.

Friends of the Israel Defense Forces Celebrates Annual New York Gala

For the past 15 years, Danny Zelouf has served as president of Zelouf International located in New York City. Heavily involved in philanthropy, Danny Zelouf supports several charitable organizations, one of which is the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF).

Begun in 1981 by several Holocaust survivors, FIDF offers education and support to men and women who serve in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The nonprofit organization also helps families of fallen soldiers. Israeli soldiers, who are drafted into the IDF once they turn 18, serve the country’s borders. The FIDF provides these soldiers with support, care, and compassion to help them deal with looking out for the Jewish community.

Although it is headquartered in New York, the FIDF maintains branches across the country. The New York chapter hosted its annual gala dinner on March 15, 2016, at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. Former Vice Prime Minister Moshe Ya’alon and U.S. Ambassador Danny Danon were in attendance. The gala brought together more than 1,300 business people and leaders who raised a record-breaking $33.1 million. These funds will support educational and well-being programs for the soldiers.
